Volunteering at The Healing Connections
Cooperative
We need you!
Volunteers
are the foundation of Connections Local Foods Market.
Instead
of being a spectator when you come to visit, join the fun, and we'll put you to
work! Come for an hour, a day, or on a regular basis with or without prior
skills, but with an eagerness to work. An extra pair of hands is always
appreciated. Projects may include: cooking, food preparation, food preservation,
harvesting, making compost, packaging, gardening, weeding, mowing, accounting,
filing, stocking shelves, stacking firewood, etc. Or contact us if you have any
special talents to share. In any case, be dressed to get dirty.
If you share our passion for people,
the environment and healthy, naturally delicious foods we want to hear from you!
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities with varied time commitments. It
is a great way to meet other members, learn new skills, and actively make a
positive contribution to your Local Foods Market.
A few of the ways you
can contribute:
Volunteer for Connections Kid
Picks program.
Come join us in our efforts to encourage healthy eating habits in the kids in
the River Valley. Our Kid Picks program is revving up for a new year of great
food and fun. With your help, kids all over will be sampling hundreds of
different healthy food items from Connections Local Foods Market and they will
be voting on whether or not they like the products.
If you decide to give time to Connections Kid Picks, you will learn how the
program works and help children learn about the healthy foods they will taste.
There is traveling involved as we go directly to schools, community centers, and
other venues. Day and evening hours are available.
Participate in Local Foods
Restocking & Packaging
Each month, Connections purchases
bulk food at wholesale prices and packages it into family-sized portions for
distribution in our market. Packaging times vary. No special skills are
required. Connections volunteers enjoy the work and the opportunity to earn
community service hours.
More opportunities
Many times each year, single or short-term volunteers are needed. For example,
you could help serve food at a community event, assist with landscaping around a
store, manage bulletin boards, spearhead an issue-based program, or set up a
store volunteer event.
See the Connection cashier for volunteer requests, check the bulletin boards
page to find out what's happening at your store, or contact Annette Marin at
207-364-1080
for more information about volunteer opportunities at Connections Local Foods
Market.
